Looking at River St. from the ferry.

Waiting for the ferry to go back to River St.

Eerie Spanish moss at night.

In The Pirate House, the oldest house in Georgia, said to be the place the first peach tree was grown...it's also said to be haunted...
This Pirate was awesome!

LOVE magnolia!!!

My Stud Muffin!!!
The sweet tea, the gumbo, the smell of magnolia, the warmth, and most importantly one on one time with the hubs.......Oh Georgia, I miss you already!

Joey had signed up to go to the International Oil Spill Conference in Savannah and mentioned that I should go with him.  At first I didn't give it any thought, leave my babies?!  Heck no!  The more he twisted my arm and the more looking into it I did, I started to get used to the idea.  I mean, after not sleeping through the night once in over 10 months (thanks, Levi) the thought of sleeping in for 4 days actually started sounding pretty good.  So after convincing Joey's mom to come up and watch the boys for the week (we had to try reeeeallly hard...not) the trip was a go.  I was very nervous about how the boys were going to do without me, I had never left Levi for more than a few hours at a time not to mention I am still his primary food source.....and I was very nervous about how I was going to do without my babies.  Joey and I try to go on one trip a year just the two of us, obviously skipping last year with having a newborn and all.  I have had meltdowns each trip we've taken, so I didn't have high hopes for myself.  Surprisingly, I did really well!  I think it was because before when we would go on trips, I was working full time and Colter was in daycare, so I had working mom guilt.  This time, since I am now home with them full time, I think it was a bit easier to go away for a few days.  I missed them like crazy, especially when I would see little kids playing in the fountains, but I did just fine!  I think it's important to connect with your man and be husband and wife instead of mommy and daddy every now and then.

The first 5 months after Levi was born, I breastfed and then pumped afterward (I've been called Ms. Bessy more than once) so I would freeze everything I pumped, I literally have a 5+ month stash of breastmilk in my freezer, so Levi was set!  One of my carry ons was my trusty pump and I pumped and dumped for the entire time we were there, it worked perfectly (bring on the yummy peach cocktails!)  (TMI?  Sorry!)

I was on my own during the days while Joey was at his conference, this was a new experience for me, eating lunch at a table for 1 and seeing sites by myself.  I found it actually kind of refreshing.  I spent most of the days either walking around the shops in the City Market area or River Street.  I would take a different path each time so I could see new things.  I also spent part of a couple days laying out at the motel pool, which was also fabulous.  When Joey would get done, we'd walk around the different squares (Forsyth Park being the big one), eat dinner (I think Joey ate shrimp every meal), maybe shop a little bit, and find a place to have some drinks and listen to music.  One of the most interesting things we did was eat at The Pirate House and take a tour from one of the pirates, it was so interesting and educational and fun!  Savannah's history is really intriguing.

All in all it was an amazing time.  I loved Savannah and would go back in a heart beat.  I think the boys would really like it there too.  I highly recommend going on a trip with just you and the mister once in a while, it's really nice to reconnect.

What are some of your favorite places to travel?
